The Beginning
Before there was Karma Sauce there was a garden. A vegetable garden that neighbors shared. We enjoyed tending to the garden, harvesting our own bounty and the canning parties where we stocked up for the winter.
In 2008, we challenged each other to eat strictly local food for a straight month (not really much of a challenge here in the bountiful Finger Lakes). At the same time, a new puppy was adopted: Karma. Karma brought naughtiness to a whole new level. It’s hard to tell a terrier not to dig out the tomatoes, especially when she is so cute.
To really do local right- in our house - we needed a good local pepper sauce (none existed). During a creative Saturday, we began to experiment with butternut squash, cider vinegar and other local ingredients. This would be the beginning of a very different red pepper sauce, one with a distinct regional character; something more than a “hot sauce”, but neither a sriracha, a new type of condiment that can be enjoyed with many different foods. At the end of the weekend, we had two sauces. Both sauces are gluten-free and good for you: one medium and another very hot. But what should we call them? Then came another flash of inspiration; the yin-yang balance of the sauces is embodied in our namesake. Good Karma Sauce and Bad Karma Sauce were born.
...And So We Went For It
The sauces were such a hit with friends, neighbors, co-workers, and anyone who ever tried them, that we decided to work to make Karma Sauce available to everyone. Not an industrial “re-formulated” copy but the real thing: a minimally processed food made from whole vegetables. Two years, and untold hours later, we completed the "Karma Kitchen" to make the sauces we love, sauces that are true to their origins.
Along the way, Good and Bad were joined by two siblings, Smokey and Curry. We make each sauce in small batches from the highest quality ingredients. We never use gums, industrial mashes, preservatives or anything else to compromise our quality. This is why our sauces have a superior flavor and texture that is unlike anything else. We hope that you enjoy our products as much as we enjoy making them for you!

We only make the products you see on this site. We never use anything that contains gluten, wheat, soy or dairy. And
definitely no corn syrup or preservatives.
